Default D44 Bearings & Seals?

Can someone help me out real quick?

It's a D44 out of an 88 XJ.

I was told my rear D44 needs "axle seals" and the bearings (plus bearing raceway) needs to be changed.

I think i've found the right parts, but have never seen them in real life, so if someone can give me a quick yes/no it'd be much appreciated.

Axle Seals - http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...ent-Inner-Seal

Also as for rear discs on a D44 i've heard i need the JK retainer ring. True? Anything else i should know?

I don't know if that seal is right. It list it as D30/44 which might mean for a front axle. Better look into that some more, or maybe call a business that would know rather than looking at pictures on the internet.

That D44 is junk. You should sell it and replace it with a D35 C-clip.

Seriously though, those seals are not the right ones, pretty sure those are for a front d30/d44.

This is what you want. http://www.jeepinoutfitters.com/scri...idproduct=1522

XJ D44 does not have inner axle seals, only outer.

Didn't realize that. Sending him my number now and seeing if i can figure this out with him.

Would like to support a CF vendor.

I'm going to buy that if seriousoffroad doesn't have it. Thanks for the link.

Beat me to it. Randy's ring and pinion is actually a really good place to deal with. They're actually local to me so I can just stop by and pickup whatever I need.

The correct bearing and seal for the axle shaft is a National A-10 and the National Seal 9912.

Hopefully that helps.

As per our conversation, the retaining plate you need for the disc conversion is from an 03-06 Rubicon.

That helps a million. Just one more question. I was told i "need to change out the bearing on the shaft to match the new race in the housing".

Does this mean i have to buy a new race? I feel so dumb.

Just bought the retaining plate.

The bearing I posted comes with the race and the bearing retainer.

Thank you. Just getting things to make sense in my head.

Everything is now ordered. Just need to hit up a JY and find some ZJ backing plates.

Another question. I've just become seriously confused.

When i bought this axle i got two axle shafts that were installed, and then three spares.

I think something is wrong though.

The first set of three in this picture are all 29 1/4" long. The first two (bottom of the picture) are what i pulled out of my axle when i bought it.

The top two are both 29 3/4".

Shouldn't the longer one be in the passenger side and the shorter one be in the driver side? Did the previous owner have something wrong here?
