Yes i believe 410 was a factory option for xj's, maybe with tow package? I think the 4cyl cherokees came with 4.56...Mine does have 410s, but i am going 4.56 since i have 33's.
Look for a 97-99 Dana 30 from a 4 cyl XJ if you decide to do a 8.8 swap that has 4:10s.

Question for anyone. Has anyone ever welded an 8.25. For people like me that are poor lockers or lock rights are way to expensive for me. I have more axels than i know what to do with but i'd rather here from someone thats done it and got good results. Thanks for reeding and would love some feed back

You should use the LSD until you have no more to use. May be several years. Do not weld a diff that is going to be used on the street or you will be then buying tires every 6 months.

thats just it how well do limited slips work i dont know anyone that has one. On the other hand living in a junk yard tires here are plentiful but 8.25s arent. Is the down grade worth it.

my question is is it worth the down grade.Tires here are very plentiful plus i live in a junk yard. All the ohter axels an jeeps i have are difrent then my 96. all i have are under 89.

My 8.25 is welded and I run it at 80mph down the freeway. If I am not driving it to the trail I am flat fowing it, and it gets drug down the road even faster then. I also drive it around town on the weekends and to work a good bit. I have never had a welded carrier fail.

with the 8.25 is there any way to tell if you have the 27 or 29 spline axles without taking to dif cover off?
