d35 questions....
Ok so I have a 95 cherokee 4.0 yada Yada yada. And my d35 is a ticking time bomb.... so instead of rebuilding it. I'm forgoing it and just gonna swap it with a either another d35 or a Chrysler 8.25.
Alright so my questions.
will a 8.25 swap directly onto my leafs?
I've been told they don't have abs?

Direct swap. Get drive shaft and make sure its from same type transmission . Auto get a auto,5 speed get a 5 speed also same engine size so gearings correct. A 97 up has bigger axles.

Ok just to clarify. If I find a Chrysler 8.25 it will with no modification will fit. I just have to find one with identical gears? I don't have to switch drives shafts right? Did they make abs 8.25s? I read somewhere that it wouldn't be abs?

You need drive shaft and U bolts plate and nuts, dont think abs was a option on them. What ever you take off to remove it you need to install it on yours.

Alright great thank you. I read something on NAXJA that said the only thing I'd have to worry about would be if I had a SYE(which I dont). But this seems doable the more I look into it.

I just swapped my d35 for an 8.8. The 8.8 doesn't have abs either. So I just cut the abs wires at the frame unhooked the abs relays in the PDC and then pulled the #7 2 amp fuse under the dash. That way you effectively eliminate the abs motor and won't get the abs warning light.

If possible look for the stronger 29 spline 8.25 installed in the 97 and up XJ's. I would plan on new U-Bolts when you replace the differential and they aren't the same size as the D35's either, can't remember the size offhand. Don't forget the driveshaft from the 8.25 XJ you will need it and plan on new joints for a good start.
