That's because there isn't a half-ounce of automotive rust in the entire state of Georgia...I'm jealous.

Yea when I did mine only rusted dust was in the caps

Is there a recognized maintenance schedule for front axle U-joints or do you just run them until they dry out and go bad?

 

usually until they either start clicking when in 4 wheel drive, or if you feel the steering wheel shimmy when turning.

best thing to do is randomly grab the shaft on each side of the joint and twist to feel for any looseness in the joint.
