D30 Disco...why would I NOT want one?
No where in this thread do you explain the purpose of the disco, except you disdain for them. I think we are all aware that 4x4 engagement occurs in the T/C. We are talking about 2WD, the T/C chain does not turn, the front drive shaft does not turn, unless you have a non disco front, then it is turned by the wheels and axles, if you have a functioning vac disco the pass wheel will turn the pass outboard axle, the drivers wheel will turn the drivers axle, which will turn the drivers spider gear, which will turn the cross shaft gears, which will turn the pass spider gear and inboard pass axle shaft, all of that can happen wthout turning the ring gear, pinnion gear and front drive shaft. If you run 85W140 and Lucas Oil Stab, and have some tight spider gears/cross shaft gears and loose pinnion gear bearing/seals you could get some rotation, but you could stop it with your hand.
I guess this is where your number of posts/number of XJ's makes you an expert. Have you ever rebuilt a T/C or a diff? I have. You still have not explained why disco fronts were made, I am sure corporate didnt do it for their health.

Most notably vacuum disco made an appearance of some of the Ram line.
I won't bother arguing whether the D-shaft turns in 2wd.. you are absolutely convinced you know best and have already resorted to throwing insults at other posters.

Even if you do have a disconnected front axle, the front left wheel will make the front driveshaft turn without turning the transfer case chain. Thats how I get to the grease fittings.

I like the idea of welding the gears or installing the a spool and using the CAD as a locker!!
But I think the disconnect would eventually fail under the additional and constant stress.

thatd work lol. replace all the lines, the shift fork and the motor itself and you'd still be ahead in the money game

I am not going to get into the pissing match but I will say tone down the attitude. It is ok to disagree but it is not ok to start the attitude.

Maybe you'll believe this. Read the factory parts paragraph. I explained why I believe my point of view is correct, and what NOBODY, to this point has said, is WHAT turns the front drive shaft, when in 2WD and you have a functioning DISCO system, and an open front diff.....you cant. So keep spreading disinformation, I'll move to another forum.
