Default D30 Axle swap 1986 XJ

I have my 4cyl Jeep, I'm really hating the CAD on the front of it that actually has a manual posi-lock on it.

I want to switch it out for a 91 or newer(I believe that's the correct year)

I have 4.10 gears, but it's hard to find an axle with 4.10's installed, do you think it would be worth it to purchase a new D30 and swap my gears, or just wait until I find a new front with 4.10's.

I eventually plan on going to 4.53's but that's later down the road.

**Edit: the new axle, would be actually USED, I aint rich.

what would be the point of this? If you already have the CAD bypassed you essentially have the same axle you'll be putting in, except the newer one you won't be able to lock. You could also just swap in the passenger shaft off a newer one to bypass the assembly completely.

X2 Just replace the seals and get a block off plate.

Look for 87-on Limiteds with the selec-trac (np242).

I've heard about selec-trac, but what's the gain?

just put in axle shafts from a TJ WJ or late XJ as they have bigger U-joints. not need to swap the whole axle as you have 4:10 gears already
