Default Custom Gauges

Has anyone ever swapped out thier stock gauges for custom ones.. or have come across a write up on such a mod? My entire cluster fails to work 97% of the time, IF they work it is usually the other gauges, speedo and tach work the least. I have taken them out a couple of times and cleaned up the connecter and reinstalled. They work for a day or two and then stop. At this point I would rather install Autometers. Any ideas, comments, suggestions?

SInce I am on a dial up connection (down fall of living in the country) I didnt let all the pictures load, But from reading it appears he was swapping a stock full cluster for a cluster with idiot lights. Which would be a good swap if I didnt already have a full cluster.... that just doesnt work. I am contemplating going to the pick-n-pull and trying to find one... but how long would it be before that one fails too? I would rather go with an all new gauge cluster with individual gauges not all connected to a circuit. Thanks for the link though.

Why don't you make one? I made one for my blazer out of a sheet of lexan and a bunch of AutoMeter gauges. Sort of a pain in the *** to wire and run the lines, then get the mounting to look nice, but so very cool after it was done.

Thats the plan.. just looking for info from anyone who has done it before so I will have an idea of the problems I may run into.

The idea is to use the stock wiring if at all possible since the wires are already there. I will most likely end up custom wiring the check engine light and the other located in that area of the dash.

Yeah, my blazer was a '79 and didn't have much factory electronics. So it was really straight forward.

Um I think JPMagazine did a custom built on at some point. Maybe google around and you might come across it.

Yeah, I had an 82 Chevy Silverado and an 87 GMC Sierra and have seen some nice looking setups using autometers. Do you still have your blazer?
