Default Cup holder

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone can use one. I just finished putting one in my '96XJ. Only extra work to it was making a shim the thickness of the area on the cup holder where the screw holes are to put under my console lid latch to lower it so it would catch(it's got to match the width of the square post so the latch can slide). It's well made and very sturdy. I had adjusted my e-brake a few days ago and it works fine no matter what some of the reviewers at Amazon say.

I take it you don't have power mirrors?

Nope,no power mirrors. That's what that knockout's for to the right of the e-brake slot. Except you won't knock it out it would have to be cut with a razor knife.

He's mistaken about those XJ's not having cupholders. They hung on the passenger side of the console. They never stood a chance with even a moderately large person. Mine didn't last a month. Also my holder fits better against the console than his. Very sturdy.

A 5 minute installation video where all that is required is the removal and reinstallation of 2 screws... I'm surprised that wasn't made by BimmerJeeper

It would have been him filming the mechanic doing it.

I have one... kind of a pain in the ***. too small for any cups that actually matter. don't fit bottles. blocks the parking brake from working all the way. But it came with my XJ so I'm not gonna complain.

True. Might have required a specialty screwdriver that costed a fortune

Another option is the chrysler one that mounts to the right side of the center console.

I had the first one pictured, too small, and my key lanyard caught the bottom of it as I was getting out, pulled it back and broke where the screws are, it lasted about a month lol

That's the one I have as well. I don't like my E-brake partially blocked.

I went with the $8 Brica baby stroller clamp on cup holder. Works well for me since my ebrake doesn't work.
