Hi, new here, first post.
I just purchased a 1998 XJ Sport and am starting to discover all of the things that need fixing!
The left hand side cruise control switch was just stuck into the steering wheel and looks like it is missing some internal parts.
My question is: Does anybody know if the switches are the same for 1998-2001 models or were there any changes?

To the best of my knowledge you need the switches from a '97 or '98. Something about ohms I think that make them different from '99 to '01. Despite the fact that they look exactly the same and screw right in.

 

Basically there was a change mid cycle with switches. 97 to 98 can only be used with those years and then 99 to 01 switches need to be used only. Other than that everything is a simple unscrew, Unplug and replug a new one in and should be good to go.
