I Ive been doing lots of work on my XJ, and she is almost road worthy, aside fro smogging. However, I started driving down the road and wanted to see if the cruise control worked on the dash. Nothing. Am I just doing it wrong? Way to fix it? Im not to worried about it, wouldnt use it much, just wondering if anyones had the same issue. Thanks for any tips or suggestions.
Its a five speed BTW.

How do the wires look on your turn signal stalk?
Over time they get pinched there where the stalk goes into the steering column.
I had to get my soldering iron out and splice those wires.
Or the better way is to just buy a new one. They range in price on fleabay.
First things first however.
Have you gone through all the fuses under the dash by your feet?
Look on cruiser54's site for a pdf of the factory service manual. ALL the info you want to know on your Jeep is there.

Probably. Did they ever work? Boneyard time. If you go that route and pull it yourself, walk in the park by the way just need to rent a steering wheel puller, make sure the wheels are straight and when you get it out you will see that it is like 2 sections Each having a hole. If you pulled it with the wheels straight they should line up. Or be really close. Throw a zip tie through there to not lose position before it is installed.

Thats a good tip I’m going to try that for sure!

My '00 did not come with Cruise Control. Once you source all the parts it is literally plug and play.
Just occurred to me. Are you sure that there is a cruise control clockspring in there? Some people don't care about their cruise and when it goes bad buy the cheaper not cruise control clockspring.
Just came across this on Ebay. Notice the zip tie in the pics? That is what I was talking about for when after you remove it.

Just figured out the cruise control does work! I guess it does have to be in fifth gear... I had engaged it and i felt the gas pedal drop from my foot, which scared me at first, but it works great.
