Swapped out my headlights today, while I was doing that I tried to replace my cracked headlight bezel. I had ordered a new Crown replacement from Quadratec. But when I tried to install it the damn marker lens wouldn't fit. It's like the proportions are not quite right.
Old vs New

The marker doesn't sit low enough on the new bezel.
New:

It fits flush in the old:

I don't think I have a 'wrong year' issue. I've swapped these back and forth on my 89, 90, 91, 92 before without any problem. It just seems like the part is not quite 'right'.
Anyone else had a problem with CROWN replacement parts?

Warm the new bezel and lens in an oven - just like you were reshaping an old street hockey stick blade (except they used a higher temp). Do not exceed 175F for this part. Remove from oven and install immediately. The materials will be more malleable for the first few minutes and will conform to one another more readily. When attaching fasteners, do not bottom the screws, only snug them lightly. Check the seating periodically because you may want to nudge the set/fit. Revisit screw torque after an hour-or-so. Also consider applying a thin bead of clear RTV along the mating surfaces, excess splooge can be removed (cut and peeled) after curing.

I've restored a lot of classic Mustangs.
I can't tell you how many times I've had to modify a reproduction part to make it fit.
Even if it comes from the best, most expensive, most reputable suppliers.

This is the number one reason I was replacing it. The mounting point is broken off on the original.
Thanks for all the advice. I will try the heating trick.
Truth right there. Try replacement Corvette body parts, lol. Nothing fits out of the box, some aftermarket stuff isn't even close.
Looks like the lens is catching on the lip right there. Can you gently bend that piece out a bit while seating the lens?
