Crown HD steering upgrade
Hey guys, I have been having some problems with my steering and I have decided to upgrade my steering. I have a 90 Cherokee with around 4.5" of lift and was wondering if i could use the Crown HD steering upgrade on it(http://shoplive.rompalicious.com/cro...tj-p-1946.html). It says 91-01 but was wondering if it could still be used on my 90. As of right now, i dont think the steering on it is the stock setup. I am also in the process of diagnosing my death wobble. If that crown kit doesnt work, are there any other suggestions for a replacement?

This one says 84 to 01. I have the crown kit and its great. Soild as a rock and very smooth This kit is from rugged ridge, most likely just the same as the crown kit.

I have seen a lot of bad reviews for the rugged ridge kit so im trying to keep away from that one. When i look on jc whitney and put in all of my info for my jeep, they say the crown hd kit will fit. so im wondering if it even makes a difference

I bought this kit since my linkage is rubbing my steering damper bracket after reading the install on a tj which had a very similar problem. I got it off ebay for 186 shipped and it showed up with in 2 days. I just got it and it looks like it will work for me and if you read his install the drag link is slightly larger and you get the zj solid larger tie rod and all new thicker tierod ends. I have already checked it and looks like i will at least gain the clearance needed to drive safely lol and have upgraded hardware. I also have heard bad news about the Rugged Ridge kit which sucks because that had even more clearance as it moves the drag link connection to the tierod over but like i said i have read bad thinks like a roll and pop as well as a dead spot in the steering so i didnt want to risk it.
Anyway here is the link to the install.

I just installed my Crown kit yesterday on my 98 XJ. Went in pretty good. As a matter of fact it went in SO well, that my mechanic buddy who could only give me 4 hours of time, were able to knock out all 4 of the lower control arm bushings too.
Once I have the alignment done Monday, I'll let you know if it got my DW.

I got mine done yesterday as well and like i hoped it moved that tierod away from my shock mount area. I was supprise that is actually came out so well as usually i have to cut or hammer for days to get things done on my jeep lol.
Bob if you go to the link i posted in my above post, it will help you set your toe in. i just put my tires on and kept measuring till i had 1/8th inch toe in. Drives great.

Thanks Blacksport
I've seen other links to "driveway alignments", but I just couldn't follow them (what they were trying to say). This link was TOTALLY understandable. Thanks for an excellent bookmark in my tutorials folder. Oh....and i"ll be trying it this afternoon (-:

Got mine installed this Saturday. Drove home from the shop and felt solid. Took it out later and got up to about 50 and started to vibrate....headed back to the shop.

It's been a long time since I've been here and I was searching for stuff regarding crown hd steering and came across this thread.
I have 4.5" long arm kit and attempted to install this on my XJ and it barely fits. I have to push the draglink up pretty hard in order to connect the tie rod to the pitman arm. It appears there's not enough flex in the passenger side tie rod to allow the draglink to reach the pitman arm.
I don't know how the OP managed to install it.
It did fit on my 1.5" lifted TJ just fine. I might just swap the Currie steering on the TJ with the Crown on the XJ.
