Can anyone think of somewhere else to mount a sub in an xj that would be out of the way. I know about people making boxes that fit in the cubby hole in the back but I'm looking for other ideas. Maybe pictures of your current setup that you're happy with would help out. I need bass and space at the same time.

How about the room under the rear seat? I store my recovery equipment under there, but maybe you can create some sort of box that could fit under there? Also I've seen tool/spare parts boxes that people made that were the size of the rear cargo area. They were usually around 4-8 inches tall and had drawers that pulled out, but I bet you could fab something up like that to store your sub.

space and base? tough combo in the cherokee

i vote the cubby hole if you're really really worried about space.

under the back seat would most likely not work because of the depth of the cone and magnet, it take some intense engineering to fit a box in there too...so you'll probably either get a rattle or break your sub speaker under there. i barely fit my amp under the back seat so i couldn't imagine getting a whole speaker in there.

how much base to do you need? ever look into base tubes? they're typically smaller and weaker but wouldn't take as much trunk room

Inside the spare wheel if you still have it in the jeep.

I vote for the cubby as well... under the seat would be fine also, but i'm the kinda guy that needs his storage.

Oh yeah... need a roof rack and maybe a trailer too!!!

I don't need a ton of bass but the 5 1/4s aint cuttin it. I looked into the bazooka tubes but you still gotta have somewhere to put it.

I was lookin at this to put under one of the front seats but I don't think it will squeeze.

I will probably end up with a sub in the cubby hole but was just lookin for other ideas. Thanks guys.

my cousin has two of these in his Grand Am. they actually don't sound that bad. i was surprised too, just because of how small the units are, i really didn't think they could move that much to get the sound they actually get. because of the size of those units as well, they easily could fit under the rear bench without any modification in the surrounding area (just get rid of that crummy stock jack).

i understand your frustrations with the 5 1/4s, pretty weak on the lows

i've known some guys with trucks who have been able to fit a bass tube under their seats...maybe under the passenger seat if anything?

if i were you and trying to conserve space, i would run amp under the back seat and build a box for the cubby hole...build it off this design?http://www.quadratec.com/products/pr...136+700&h=&spg

I have been thinking about putting some subs in the cubby, but haven't gotten around to it, This is actually a decent design. Maybe I'll do something like this one.

Mine is sitting in the back. Every-so-often it has to come out so either I can wash the inside with the hose or I know I am soon to carry dirty things.

I would prefer fixed and in tight, but reality says that it comes out once and a while.

Just my thoughts. YMMV.

x2. I think that would be cool if you could make it work.

I think I'm gonna go with alpine stuff. That's what everything else I have is and happy with the sound quality. I'm looking at the 10" Type S (SWS-1023D) and power it with an Alpine mono amp (MRP-M500). Does anyone know if this amp will fit under the rear seat? The dimensions from alpines site are 10-5/8'' x 2-23/64'' x 9-33/64''
