Default Crazy wobble only between 49 and 56mph...SOMETIMES

So i get this shake that feels like its from my front end at 48ish til i get near 60. At first i thought wheel balance from my well, well used 31s had both front wheels balance and it seemed to get a little better but still prevalent. But at the sametime its intermittent. Today i hopped on the freeway and barely got a vibration. Im a mechanic by trade ao i checked the usuals for excess play and cant find any. So maybe its worn to the point is only noticeable under load and weight of the vehicle. Chassis has 190k on it. I do have excessive wear in my sway bar bushings but ive not replaced them yet. Is the the culprit or should i look elsewhere for known XJ issues and wear patterns.

Watch a few death wobble videos on YouTube and tell us if that is what you are experiencing.

I thought wheel bearing myseld but thats pretty easy to check. Like i said sometimes that vibration is so violent ive pulled over to find nothing wrong. Yesterday i got to speed on the freeway and barely a buzz. Once past that speed everything smooths out and i can no hands at 75 and we just cruise.

My 96 was doing something like that. Wasn’t full blown death wobble but I would occasionally get oscillation over 45-50 and have to slow down to stop it. One of my front shocks was dead so I was gonna replace them anyway. That solved it in my case. Rest of front end was tight.

Remove your track bar completely and inspect the joint for slop, then also inspect the mount holes on the axle end for stretched or "egged" holes. Slop in the joint or the bolt hole on the axle can become an enormous problem. Also check those tie rod ends and balljoints fpr slop/play.

Tire being out of balance will do some pretty horrid shaking. Maybe check on that too.
