Hi All,
Second posting (no reply to my first
),
I have run my 1995 4.0ltr Cherokee for the last two weeks. I put £40 of fuel in her - and after 90 miles - she needs more!
£40 is about 46litres at £1.14 per litre - so I am doing just over 8mpg!!!
This is crazy crazy! This is general town driving - not going mad with the throttle. My 4.2ltr V8 Range Rover was averaging 15mpg doing the same journey.
What can be causing this?? The MOT test showed all wheels to be free and not binding - and she passed the emissions with no worries.
I have had the drivers side brake calliper seize up on me - and had to drive her 2 miles home!! This is sorted now and there is no drag here.
Any common issues with these units??
Cheers,
Keith

Any rough running? Stuttering? Also, don't forget that your fuel gauge may be starting to go on the fritz. Mine is, and she reads empty when I have about 2 gallons left in the tank. Lol not sure how US gallons transfer to litres, but still the same general problem. Hope you get it fixed!

He didn't mean tuning like you'd do after heavily modifying a car. A tune up is replacing the following: plugs, wires, distributor cap, distributor button, and air filter. I'm pretty sure that covers it.

When I got mine it was about the same. started doing tune ups and got to about 12 city 14hw. spark plugs new air screen and flowmaster made biggest change.
mine was doing the same and after i changed almost everyhting from filters to plugs to oil to tires to everyhting the problem was in my BATTERY can you imagine?// it was overloading the engine and it was not giving the proper signals to the injectors . i cleaned the cables on the battery and installed a new battery and now i am doing 16MPG city and 18 highway before i was doing 8MPG and on high way 10
give it a try i really changed everything and i paid a lot of money but that was not the cause the cause was loose cables and battery. try it and report back
good luck
