Default Crankshaft Position Sensor

I think my CPS is starting to fail. I have had the car die a few times while driving. I have a 99 XJ 4.0 Auto. When I search for the part online through MOPAR parts dealers I can only find one listed for Manual Trans. Is this part universal or have I misdiagnosed my problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I just looked at Rock Auto's site. They show 6 choices and none mentioned being auto or manual specific.

6 choices wont make it any easier to pick the right one. I was trying to avoid the dealership but still get the higher quality factory part.

I wasn't suggesting you make a choice from those 6. A parts dealer offering that many and none mentioning they are manual or auto specific MIGHT mean there is no difference. Also,I've bought electrical components from Rock Auto and been completely satisfied.

I made a recent thread about CPS brands. This was one of the replies.

I ended up going to the dealer and grabbing one for around $80 because I couldn't wait for shipping.

Does the PC307 help narrow it down?

The OEM part number for the 1999 XJ 4.0 CPS is 56027866AC.

I installed this part number in my '99, 4.0, AW4.

If you go the Rockauto route, just plug it the above part number in the part number search window and it should take you to the CPS's available that are cross referenced to this part number.

The 2000 XJ switched to part number 56027866AE.

Thanks for the part number! That's what I needed.
