Cranking when cold problems

So my jeep is a 93 cherokee 4.0.ok so it sits overnight and then I get in the morning to go to leave and turn the key it starts turning over nothin stop do it and again and again then it crank barely like 400 or 500 rpms then dies.Crank it again same thing.Then it cranks it idles at 1000rpms and dies then i crank it again and it runs fine then i pump the gas alil and some poppin in the intake kills it sometimes.but it runs fine after actually driving down the road.But its hell on my starter any help appreciated

It sounds like you have a fuel issue,It is possible your fuel is draing back to the tank through the pump,try and cycle the key a few times with about 10 secs in between without trying to start it and see if that helps,it maybe that the fuel rail is empty.
