Default crank postioning sensor

I believe i have a crank positioning sensor issue. I am trying to start my 93' jeep cherokee i have fuel spark and air and battery/starter. Just wont turn over. Ive been told by many people the CPS is the issue. How hard is this to replace? Is it doable by one man with a basic ratchet and screwdriver set? Is there any programing i would have to do afterwards?

best way to do it cause its right on the one oclock postion on the bell housing is from underneath with like two feet of extensions and a swivel and it helps to drop the crossmember other than that pretty simple

i dont know if they moved it on a HO engine but on my renix its on the driver side and a real pain to get to. i just changed mine last week but it didnt fix my problem. it took a ratchet, several extensions, 11m socket, and a universal.

If you have fuel/spark I don't think the CPS is at fault. By "just won't turn over" do you mean the starter will not function?

Had the same issue with my 99 and that's what it was. Starts now with no issue. Just a matter of switching the old with a new one. Pretty easy to do.

could also be a cam sensor/stator. they will throw the same codes.

and yes, all jeeps cps in on the drivers side. and are a pain to get to. except my tj, can get it with a wrench from above, or a 1/4 inch ratchet from underneath with no extensions. lol.

but the xj, i used a universal, a long wobbler and about a half dozen regular extensions.

So i got it out with little trouble. Getting back in with only one body is becoming the difficult part so im waiting for a friend. Seems like you need someone to hold it in place from above and bolt it from below

did you put that little rubber piece back in the hole that the cps goes through. it's easier if you have that piece, then it will hold it there so you can get a bolt in. then the rest is easy.

you might be able to reach it from laying under it and reaching up the driver side of the bell housing thats how i did mine today but then again im 6'6'' and have monkey arms, i was able to guide the bolt in the hole then the socket on to the bolt and was able to hold it enough till it got tight
