Default Crank position sensor help, Its not what you think!

I am wanting to know how many pulses per revolution the crank position sensor observes for a 1993 xj w/4.0L.

Based on my observations of the flywheel I am assuming 12. However, the notches were 3 groups of 4 so, I am suspicious.

1. This is surely a hall-effect sensor? right?
2. If not 12 then what... I would expect even spacing for all notches

The wiring diagram I have for this jeep sucks... I think the orange wire is the supply voltage for both crank and cam position sensors... So, which of the other 2 are signal and ground?

Background: I have recently installed a Mercedes Benz diesel engine in my cherokee. I am now just buttoning things up. If I can trick the computer to thinking the diesel is the 4.0L I can maintain all factory gauge cluster and cruise control will work a little better...

HELP! someone? I no longer have a 93' OBD1 cherokee w/4.0L to do tests on... Should of thought about that first

Thanks in advance

If you try a couple of searches you may find your answer there was a complete explanation of the CPS here in the last week. Like to some pictures of your transplant! As I remember I think it is 12.
