Default Crank position sensor bypass?

Is there any way to bypass or trick the CPS to think it's working or just eliminate it all together? I'm soo tired of mine I've had a hassle with the dealership on getting the right part in so I can replace mine with a mopar one. I really don't see why I need it or do I? Any input would be great! Thanks!

Don't worry about it.....the only reason to replace it would be if you wanted to drive that XJ.

If someone told you how to do it, would you have the knowledge/mechanical skills to do it?

How hard is it for you to get the MOPAR part? I had one in a few minutes for my XJ from the dealership. If you can't get the proper part for your XJ than go to another dealership or order it off the MOPAR Parts site. It is easy to change if you have the super long extension and remove your air box and a vacuum line. You NEED it the Crankshaft Position sensor tells your computer when the engine is in the right position for firing the spark. No CPS, no spark.

1) yes, you need a CPS
2) no, you cannot bypass it
3) it tells your ECU when to send fuel/ spark to the motor...and does some other important stuff as well im sure
4) yes, they commonly fail and it sucks
5) go to Amazon, search "MOPAR (make/ model/ year) crank shaft position sensor" and order it....youll have it within a week.

OR

take it to your mechanic, he'll have it fixed for you for $250 OTD....

OKAY I understand that I NEED IT! This will be my 3rd CPS but my first mopar one if they can order the right part this time! So I'm VERY experienced in changing them and can do it in about 20 or 25 mins. The closest dealership to me is "Rocky Williams" and they have screwed me over a few times. This will be their second attempt to get me the correct cps. Had to wait a 5 days for the wrong one. My jeep is my only ride except for my motorcycle and it's not quite warm enough for it yet. That's why I wanted to bypass it.

you cannot bypass something that reads the speed of rotation and position of your crankshaft... its not like a o2 sensor simulator that provides a constant reading to the ecm...

what your asking.. isnt going to work..

What's happening that causes you to think the CPS has failed?

No. The CKP signal is used to generate basic timing for fuel delivery and spark delivery - if the CKP signal is missing, the engine won't run. If the CKP is spoofed, the engine won't run well at all.
