crank case position sensor??

crank case position sensor??
My cps is failing and leaving me stranded from time to time. Can I just wire the two wires together without any problems or will it short something out, or not work at all?

CPS
can it fail and work some of the time, or does it only go out all at once. Mine comes and the ol cherokee will fire up everytime for weeks then rollover with nothin. then work again ugh.

when mine went bad it would come and go until one day it just did not start the wires had rubbed a bare spot and was touching on the rear of motor on metal i could have taped them but im not that way its my dd

mine ie the same year ther is no check engine light to go by so unless the wire are bare and poss touching it a shot in the dark when mine finnaly stoped i bought a cps coil and module and dist i was stuck 50 miles from home just happend that was the first thing i checked took the other stuff back

I was leaving work today and it would roll over like crazy but acting like it had no fire. I popped the hood and yanked on the CPS wire a bit and it started right up. About a year and a half ago similar issues When I changed the CPS, it stopped. Til yesterday. Year and a half ago the cable near the sensor did look like it got hot and melted but this one looks fine from the angle I'm looking at it.

yeah got home turned it off fired right back up again. then unplugged it, rollover but wouldn't fire up. plugged it back in and fired right back up.

FUNNY GUY!! and yes I may have tugged on it, a bit. will check the bolts. But it sounds like the big problem huh? Would it really go out that fast since the last one.?
