Default Cracked head/s

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some advice/help.

I purchased a 2000 plate 2.5TD cherokee last year with an overheating problem. I came onto the net looking for ideas as to what it might be. After looking around, I decided to go with the common things and replaced water pump, radiator, thermostat, rad cap and head gasket. While the heads were off I inspected them for any obvious defects, but all seemed to be ok.

The fault seemed to go and has lasted 12,000 miles, until yesterday and now I can't keep the coolant in as it just throws it all out of the header tank.

The question I ask now, is it possible for any of the heads to be cracked??????? Please help fellow forumers as I have run out of ideas.

Thanks for looking..........

You have come to us with a problem that many of us have no experience with as diesels are very rare here in the US. Someone else may be able to offer a suggestion, but I very sadly, can not.

We can sit here and say that yes the head is cracked, but we really don't know. The only way to KNOW if you have a cracked head is to take it to a shop and have it magnafluxed. It will show any cracks in the head that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Head cracks can be extremely small and virtually invisible to you. I know it sucks but you have to pull the head have it fluxed, it could be warped too. They should check for all of that when you take it in!! Hope this helps in some way, good luck!! Let us know how it goes!!

Sounds like either a blow head gasket or cracked head.

Given you replaced the head gasket already...Did you torque the head to spec??
