CPS or Fuel Pump Problem?
I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee with 298K and was still going strong until yesterday afternoon. I need help solving a problem. I was driving when my Jeep suddenly died, then started again, then died. I had to pull over for a minute, it started again...drove for several miles, then it shuddered and died. After a few seconds, it started, drove, then died. After an hour waiting for a tow, it started , dove 2 miles, then died. The tow came and took us home. Any ideas what the problem IS or could be? I may have a few. Help needed before throwing away several hundred $$ by unnecessarily going to "the local garage". Thanks in advance!

If you tested your Jeep, you wouldn't be "throwing away" any money.
You can buy a fuel pressure gauge at Harbor Freight for $10. While you are there, buy a test-light for $5. These two tools will diagnose 90% of your Jeep.
Test fuel pressure at the test-port on the fuel rail.
Test for spark... pull the coil wire off and spin the engine.
No spark??? The green/orange wire should have battery voltage from the ASD relay while cranking. Have voltage???
Connect the test light clamp to the (+) terminal and check the other wire on the coil... it should "pulse" ground while the engine is cranking.
Check this stuff and call me back.
