So I'm lookin to upgrade my cooling on my 99 XJ. I want to ditch the radiator for a 2 or 3 row. And would like to put in that Ford Taurus fan as well. I'll be replacing the therom. for frame of mind.
I was thinking of hood vents, but I think I'll end up gettin the cowl hood eventually.
My reason for this, is that I'd like to do more road trips through AZ, NM, and UT. I noticed while wheelin in Chico this past summer. My jeep overheated like crazy.
So my question is. Will that rad. and fan combo actually fit in that space?

You will probably need to upgrade your alternator. That fan pulls a lot of power.

 

Where did you wheel in Chico? I live in Oroville near the off road park. Check for junk stuck between the condensor and radiator on the right side of the Jeep, a lot of crap will collect there and cause the engine to run a little hotter.

 

I don't recall the the area. Another CF member invited me up. So he took me to this place. Bumpy as all hell. Long road! Lost the bolts to my header connected to pipe and the top bolts to both of my rear shocks. Not sure if that helps with the location.
I want to upgrade alternator. I think the XJ only comes with 100amps. I'm starting to lookin around for a higher power alt. But the only one I've come up with so far is the Mean Green. That thing is too freakin expensive! $400! I'm thinking a 160amp alt. would do the trick. I also want to run on board air and a few more lights.
