my cherokee wont stay below 210 when in traffic or wheelin, and then when it starts to get hot starts to sputter out, i have changed the radiator, 190 degree thermostat, so idk why even going down the highway its like at 200, its frustrating, any ideas?

mine is always around 210, its when it get higher that i get concerned. i actually just changed my radiator cap and it seemed to solve alot of issues with the truck getting hot. its only overheated once about a week ago, but i think this helped out alot. it seems to be alot of possibilities with why these truck have overheating problems. u just have to start with the small stuff and figure it out.

OK try this cause it worked for me. I took the clutch fan spring (front of clutch fan) and turned it counter clockwise one turn, what is does is engage the fan most of the time from a low RPM to Hi RPM, hey try it its free and worked for me...Tj

Heres my story about that and what worked for me,
I was new to jeep, also to electric fans. The first thing someone told me to check was my electric fan to make sure it was working and make sure it was coming on at the right time. well i turned the jeep on, turned the a/c on and the electric fan came on. so i ruled that out, changed a lot more parts without any good results. I was at advanced auto to add some more coolant and noticed that my electric fan was not running as fast as it was a couple days prior. come to find out it is a one speed fan and every time it would get hot under the hood the resistance would build up causing te fan to slow down and not pull enough cool air thru. changed out the electric fan and i have not had an issue since. make sure it that bc a new electric fan is 100 bucks. hope this helps
Also does your lower radiator hose have the spring in it to keep it from collapsing?

210 is where it should be when warmed up, that is the normal operating temp. In traffic or when wheeling it may creep up to about 215 or so. I wouldn't worry till it is going over 220 consistantly. Only time I would expect it might run below 200 is if it were less that 30 deg outside, or maybe with a cooler T Stat.
