Default cooler line leak

Guys, new user....forgive ignorance....working on my 16 yo daughters 97 cherokee sport 4x2. cooler lines are leaking at snap fittings.i've ordered new lines, but how much do i need to dis-assemble to get to the fitting behind radiator? vehicle has 130000 miles and is in pretty good shape for a 97, and first car for teenager....just trying to get ahead of the "dad my car is making a funny noise...wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy me a new one?" im moderatly mechinically inclined, in todays economy we have to be.....cant afford to take it to a shop. Thanks

Are you talking about the transmission fluid cooling lines?
The fittings have two o-rings that can be replaced. No need to buy the whole lines.
The fitting behind the radiator can be accessed from underneath.

Sorry to jack your thread, but I am having a similar problem on my 96. However, mine is leaking from the crimp on the coupling attached to the rubber hose. I can pinch the hose in my fingers and fluid runs out the bottom of the crimp. How hard is it to replace the whole line? The leak is on the transmission coolant pressure line.

Just cut the crimp off and clamp the hose on the line.

The hose will still be long enough? One clamp or 2? Will pressure be an issue with this fix? Thanks.

2 clamps are better than one, they're small and cheap and rubber tranny fluid hose/line can be bought "by the foot" at most any auto parts store. Measure twice, cut once.
