coolant system help

my coolant level is fine and i had my rad flushed before the winter. my xj runs hot usually above 210 and every so often the temp will go to the mark before 260 and my check gauges light will come on. im thinking t-stat, any one have any ideas?

It can be a few things. I would start with the cheap stuff. do a thermostat and a water pump. I also did my clutch fan and temp sending unit for the gauge. Also make sure the electric fan is coming on. I still have my overheating problem so I am going to get a new 3 core radiator. I actually talked to a good radiator shop and he told me that even with a flush or hot tank the radiators can still be plugged because of the design and shape of the cherokee radiator. Question for ya. Does it reach this temp VERY fast or after you've drove it a bit? Does the temp rise when you pull a hill or cruise at high speed?
