Default Coolant reservoir bottle hose issue

Ok I have an '89 Jeep Cherokee Sport with the coolant reservoir bottle. The other day it was running a tad hotter. So I get to my friend's house and go inside. Come back and find coolant all over the ground. I pop the hood and see a tiny pinhole shooting out coolant from the coolant reservoir bottle hose.

I've been having a damn hard time finding what it is called as the hose has a odd clamp on it. I think I'll have to replace the whole piece but, I have no idea what the name of the hose/metal/hose thing is.

In this pic the hose connects to the valve on the left.

Any help on the name would be great. lol =]

If the hole is closer to the reservoir than the radiator then fix the over heating issue and the hose won't be a problem. All I do is make sure my radiator is full and the temp gauge stays around 210 and I'm all good, of course I don't run AC either cuz it's out of commission. Your coolant is probably backing up into the reservoir because your getting too hot. Sorry I don't know the name of the hose, go to Napa or somewhere and they can probably help you find something, replace the funny clamp with a regular hose clamp that takes a flat head screw driver, you might even be able to get away with putting some fuel line hose on there.

Thanks for the input. I'm sure how to get that clamp off. The clamp is the one next to the duck tape. And yes the tape didn't work but, was worth a shot. The Jeep is my daily driver.

I don't know why your jeep is overheating, but you could get a coolant flush soon if it hasn't been done in three years or more. Might got crap blocking a passage. You might just have some air in the lines or something though. When your engine is cold, remove the rad cap and start 'er up. "Burp" the system. Don't let it blow too much coolant on the ground unless you're willing to replace it right away.

Its not really overheating much but, my guess is that its hot and its losing coolant. The hose with the tape on it has a hole in it and the hose is connected with a weird clamp to another. I need to replace the hose.

I don't know the name of the whole piece or how to get the odd clamp off.

you might want to try this www.getflexseal.com

or there are also places that specialize in hoses and fittings, for example hoses for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, I bet they could find something.

Ok this is the hose part. I have no idea what it does but, I do know removing it from the current completely stops the pressure bottle from letting coolant out for some reason. What is this thing?

Weird. A vacuum controlled coolant reservoir line. Truth is, that looks more like an A/C line and the odd clamp is that of A/C line connectors. Sorry I don't know the '89 better. I do know this much. You need a new radiator cap. Everything else you found is secondary to a defective cap. The overheating (i.e., running a tad hotter) is due to the cap not holding pressure. If your system is not sealed then it will boil more readily. Make sure you get the correct pressure rating in your new cap.

It's the heater control valve with those metal lines, autozone shows to carry them. The heater valve and metal lines go together. You have a closed system so the bottle is pressurized, it's not just an overflow, '87-'90 are this way. I just hade my heater valve off the other day one of the lines had a clog in it, I don't know if this is a common problem.

Ugh... Just finished my complete coolant flush today... Yeah, I know what metal clamp you're talking about. What's needed is a pair of spreading pliers that push out.
