I have coolant leak since we have bought this car. I fixed everything, now it its time to fix coolant leak problem. I am loosing approx 1 liter of coolant in 10 days. It is dripping on surface slowly.

I replaced the bottom hose it was not looking right at both ends, rate of leak reduced but not gone. I seems it is leaking from front of engine close to radiator but i cant see water pump. car is 4.0 ZJ actually.

any comments? any experience? how hard to replace water pump? is water pupm propeller plastic on 4.0 engine? or metal? is it ok to replace gasket only?

 

Leaks can be difficult for us to help you with.

But yes, there is a "weep hole" on the bottom of the water pump and if it is leaking out of there, then you must change the water pump.

Could also be coming from the seem on the radiator as well. If the radiator needs to be replaced, it is a good time to also replace the water pump as the part itself is not that expensive and you'll have the cooling system torn apart.

 

this is what i expected to hear. too bad. i think i will wait for spring and add coolant tiem to time. i can find water pump as aftermarket around USD 90 here, mopar is twice expensive. Can i use aftermarket? I think it is Acdelco branded.

i hope radiator is ok. at least i can make it fixed.

 

how to remove fan and shroud together? rest seems easy to me.

more coolant is dripping these days. its time to fix something in system.

bypass hose?
thermostat?
water pump itself? gasket?
