Exclamation Coolant leak

Hello there! I'm a bit of an idiot but I was going out for lunch yesterday and pulled out of a street onto a main road then floored it (probably pretty dumb, I'm a new driver) and once we stopped at the restaurant I got out and smelt coolant and looked over at my hood and it was steaming... a lot... so I popped the hood and it ended up being the block heater, but I'm wondering was flooring it and just barely redlining it what caused it? I'm a new driver and don't know much about vehicles but my Jeep is my first vehicle but it was fixed for just $40 for a new block heater and then of course some more coolant because it was leaking like crazy all down the parking lot. The trail of coolant can only be seen starting in the parking lot and now I'm scared to do anything like that again with my Jeep so I'm just basically wondering if that was what caused it or if it was caused by something else. Thanks!

No flooring it wont cause the block heater to explode. My guess is it was rotted out or broke and u just finished it off faster. Driving like that will kill your jeep and maybe you eventually, take it easy!

I occasionally run the tach up to redline-ish in my '89. It shouldn't be a problem in a well-maintained engine but it may reveal weaknesses in deteriorating components. Some of those components might be important and come shooting out the side of your engine block if you make a habit of pushing the limits.
