Default Coolant & crankshaft postion sensor Question

I got a 1989 Jeep Cheerokee with the 4.0L the straight 6. I was wondering how do you tell if you have enough coolant in it? I was also wondering whats the best way to clena back by the crankshaft postion sensor?

Do you have a closed system on the jeep. That is the system that come on it from the factor. If the coolant is just blow the side inlet hole is the level I always ran mine two 89's at. I have chaged both over to an open system now and it uses an overflow tank.

The CPS cleaning. If you take the time to pull it I would put a new one in it. The are a famous for going bad. If you have an oil leak in the area you can hunt that up. Usually the valve cover gasket leaks on them. I put permaseals in both of mine and that ended the leaks.

All renix jeeps have Closed coolant systems. To burp it. Raise the back tires off the ground. Pull the Temp sensor Drivers side rear of the valve cover. You can't miss it you can just pull the connector off the top then I think a 11mm gets the sensor out. Fill up your reservoir about half way prior!!! Pull it the sensor plug. Start your engine and run it till it starts pouring out. Then pop the plug back it. Make sure your reservoir is still good and then you are bled. It really isn't that hard. I have hear read somewhere drilling a small hole in your thermostat will add a autoburp type system but I havn't had to replace my thermo yet to check it out. Good luck.

Ok open your reservoir add to the line. If you are not overheating then your closed system is working fine.

If your temp is higher than normal then you may be low. Look at your temp guage. 190-210 is normal.

If your bottle is above the line then it is too much. Below not enough. The closed system is really simple don't over complicate it.

Yes but if you can't just add some it will be fine. If your temp guage tends to drift to the higher end of 210 then burp any air it has and it will run fine.
