I have a 89 MJ that I put 97+ doors on with manual windows. If I wanted to have power windows later on, would I be able to get everything from power doors and put it into my doors, or would it be easier to swap doors?

ok, well the reason being is that I might get the truck painted soon, and I was thinking of doing the OBD2 swap eventually, probably after its painted, which if I do I will most likely have a donor XJ with power windows, I wouldnt want to have to swap doors and get those painted after Ive already had the others painted, plus I would have an extra set of doors with nice paint and no use for them

 

I've done the swap before, the actuators are riveted in so you have to drill everything out, I just riveted everything back into the new door. I was already setup for power doors and locks, but slid into a boulder and smashed both my passenger doors in.

 

Ok, maybe I should take a door panel off and compare to a power door, if anyone wants to take one of thier front door panels off their 97+ XJ with power windows and post a pic of it, that would be much appreciated

 

I'll trade you. I want manual windows lol. Seriously, keep the manual. They will always roll up and down. That can't be said for the electric windows with the terribly problematic wiring that jeeps are known for.

 

I love my crank windows! They're gloriously uncomplicated and reliable. I actually had someone in my Jeep the other day who had never seen such a thing. I saw her looking around for a button or switch, then she asked "Where are the window controls", I pointed to the crank and she pushed the **** on the end of the crank into the door as if that would make the window go down, LOL. I said "No, you have to turn it" so she turned the **** like a dial and looked completely confused when nothing happened. I reached across and rolled the window down for her. "Oh, that's... interesting" she said.

 

I have 88 doors with power window. I want manual windows. Trade?
