Hey everybody. I would really like to convert my round 7 pin trailer lights to the typical flat 4 connector. I know that you can get an adapter that just plugs in but i have tried many and cannot get one to work. I was wondering if anyone knows which wires of the 7 are needed for the flat 4 so I could just wire it straight in.
Thanks in advance!

Make a harness if you can. I stopped slicing when I failed inspection from a module drawing too much power from my headlights. Since then, bought connectors and made plug and play harnesses.

From what I read through searching before this thread I learned that there is a place behind one of the tailights inside the jeep has a place to plug in a new mini wiring harness for the 7 pin. Not 100% on that though

I think you are over thinking this.
A company called HOPKINS make a wiring harness that plugs into the 1999 Cherokee harness and terminates in the standar 4 pin flat connector.
Most Auto Parts stores carry them.

If you have the factory 7 pin harness you already have everything you need except the connector. If you unwrap your current connector you would be able to either cut off the unwanted connector or tap the new connector onto the old harness. As stated earlier if you remove the old connector you would only need the Yellow, Green, Brown, and White or Black wires, the other wires would be unused.

Got mine for $30.
Used it to replaced the harness the PO spliced in with cut wires because it was totally unreliable.
I repaired/replaced the wiring back to stock condition and installed one of those plug in harnesses.
$30 is cheap for 'peace of mind'.
