Default Converter and Power?

Been a while since I posted.....not much done new to my 2000 XJ (put 10K miles on it since last Sept--73K miles now). Routine maint only due to funds....new front stab and rotors only--this jeep is awesome! Still no rust at all!

Had it in a local shop for routine transfer case service the other day--the guys there loved the XJ. One of them told me he used to have the same jeep and that if I "lost the converter, I'd have a ton more power and could pull a lot if I wanted".

Has anyone done this? What are the pros and cons?

Thanks!

Torque Converter I'm assuming? Install a lockup switch, and see if you like how it works for you, keeping it locked up. You can lock 2,3,4, but not one, I believe. At least with the way I wired mine. It shifts harder when left on, and you'll have to shift into neutral if you're going to stop, or else it will stall. Yeah, there is more power available, but you'll have to keep it in a lower gear. Put the lockup in, and see how you like it. If you like it, take it out.
