Default 4.5 inch lift questions

Hey, i have a 1989 jeep cherokee and i am wanting to put a 4.5 inch lift on it. Now, i am wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to which lift is better. I am going back and fourth between Rough Country, or Rustys 4.5 inch lift. Or, if there is a better one for the same price range thats cool too. On a 4.5 inch lift what tire size would be best? I am thinking 32's, but i don't really know. Also, what else do i need, or should i need along with a lift? Do i have to change my axle gears, or anything else, or will my stock drivetrain be just fine? Thanks

If you do a quick forum search you will find a bunch of similar posts. From experience if you get the Rusty's lift get the upgraded parts that are optional. The shocks included in the kit wear out pretty fast. Other than that I have a Rusty's 3" and have friends with the 4.5" and haven't had any problems. Just my .02

The RC lift is great. they are very good quality and have an awesome price. as far as gears if you run 32's or 33's i would do 4.56 to retain "factory" acceleration/MPG's and a SYE in the future is a good idea.

Hi. I dont know if either kit includes a transfer case drop (this will stop some vibrations) and also the rear brake line has to be extended or you can order an extension kit from "Howler GT" if he still makes them...Tj

all right thanks for the help, i think ill go with the rough country, so about different gear ratios, do i need to replace the gears in both front a rear axles? or just the rear? Or, is it absolutely essential to replace the gears? thanks

it is a good idea to do the gears but not essential. if you have an automatic and you are going to do 32's you will be ok w/ the stock 3.55's. it is definitely a good idea to do them at some point so you can regain power/MPG's. but i have seen a Bronco with 2.73's and 40's before but that thing was slow! haha
