Default Confirm an exhaust part please - Walker 55277 - front pipe

My b-day present came in a few weeks ago (flowmaster cat-back) and since I don't like to do a job halfway, was also thinking of replacing the the front pipe between the manifold and cat (the one with the "pinch").

From what I keep seeing online, it looks like this Walker brand pipe (PN 55277) is what I need and it looks like it does not have the "pinch".

Has anyone ordered this pipe and can confirm it has no pinch?

Thanks!

I would like to get a 2.5" version of this. PN for my 94 is 54488 though...and ironically enough, from the picture it looks like it has the annoying crimp.

That's odd. Same Jeep, diff pipes.

I'm almost tempted to order it......just don't wanna get stuck with the same crappy pinched pipe.

NAPA is usually a good place to verify parts, whether it's online or through the store. The "images" they normally use to represent their parts online usually come straight from the manufacturer.

HOWEVER, I would like to point out that both part numbers are available from NAPA. The one you posted is 2.5" and the one I posted is 2.25". It appears as though the 2.25" pipes are the ones that have the crimp.

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...488_0202098882 (2.25)

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...277_0136110865 (2.5)

Also, both pipes are different lengths and the flange may be different...so buyer beware.

Just noticed the different length also.

Think I will try to eyeball (and attempt to measure) the pipe on my XJ and see if I can verify this info.

Napa is selling that for $71 + tx and shipping. I found one online for $48 w/free shipping and no tax. Can't beat that deal.

Yeah that's a good deal. If anything, the pipe can be cut to fit so no worries there. Let me know how it goes, the front pipe to the cat is the only thing left in my system that is still 2.25"

Absolutely.....I'll post an update.

I was also thinking of asking one of the CF vendors (the one that sells exhaust kits) if he was interested in getting a GB going for this pipe? I think he needs a minimum of 50 orders to get the factory to make them?

That would be a very good mod IMO. Wonder why after all these years, no one has thought about doing that.

None yet. Waiting to do my TRE's and ball joints first. My OE cat is just about done, so probably will order the new pipe and install everything in a couple weeks.

Will post update with pics.

Just want to suggest checking out Advance Auto Parts for pricing. I just got the exact same pipe from them (different year Jeep, however) for $35, picked up.

What exactly are you talking about? What research? I already confirmed pipe 55277 is the pipe for the 96 XJ.

YOUR pipe is PN 44320 for an 86-90 XJ.

So, no.....the pipe I need is NOT $35 like the one you purchased.

But thx for RE-confirming that for me I guess......lol

I just meant that you are perfectly capable of going to Advance Auto Parts and checking out the part numbers yourself. Easy there bud.

My suggestion was just to check them out for pricing.

I know what P/N I need. You posted that the 55277 model was $35, so I just asked to confirm that you were talking about the same one.

Never asked you to do any research for me......just to confirm your statement, which was inaccurate.

No offense, but if you do not have your facts straight, please don't post and confuse others looking for the correct info, which I have worked to provide here.
