....it states that in the first pic the restriction can easily be seen...???
WHAT restriction, I don't see one.

For the second pic it states the restriction has been removed....???
I don't see anything removed.

And if there is a restriction, why didn't Jeep remove it themselves?
And if relocating the Intake Air Temperature sensor gives another 1 mpg, why didn't Jeep do it themselves?

The restriction is shown in your first pic. You take that restriction (funnel, extra plastic, what ever you want to call it) out of the intake and it will drop you temp. Mine dropped by 15 degrees just by doing that.
I believe they put it there to help with emissions. I don't know for sure but that's what I think.

That is not just a restriction.. It is a venturi tube that creates a slight vacuum in the crankcase ventilation system in order to aspirate the crankcase fumes. It is an emission control device.

The temp drop was the gauge on my dash so I dont know how accurate that is. I was running about 200 on the temp gauge. After the airbox fix it dropped to 185.

won't have heat at 185 with the stock thermostat, it doesn't open up until 195.

hey man...the whole air box is a freakin restriction......it's done to please the emission police, and limit the output without jacking with the engine/electronics, etc.....just yank out the stupid air box (i've done it with my jeep, mercedes and vw) and replace it with the largest open-ended cone filter (large surface volume like a P5), that will fit instead of the restricted, heat absorbing, small surface area, air box....your engine will thank you forever.....done!
