computer reset ?
Hi ya'll.
Here's the deal. I recently replaced my upstream O2 sensor (cheapie from rockauto) , my catalytic converter (Eastern Catalytic from partsgeek.com), and muffler (cheapie SoundFX from partsgeek.com). I also had the exhaust manifold welded and replaced the intake/exhaust manifold gasket. It's running good and no cel. Life is good.
Anyway...my fuel mileage has stayed exactly the same....according to the handy-dandy eco gauge on the overhead console. (averages about 18)
On another forum, or maybe it was this one, I recall reading somewhere that you should "reset" your computer where your vehicle can "relearn" after replacing all this stuff.
What say you guys? And how do you do it? Would it hurt anything to do it whether it needs it or not?
Thanks for any input.

I replaced my system as well as a new intake filter, never did a reset. Haven't had any problems. Really, it should learn that you system has changed after a few driving cycles anyways. And you don't have to set the radio stations again if you don't

i did it...my jeep idled alot better...mileage went up about 2 mpg
what i noticed the most was how much more responsive it is...especially the trans....
now i have the overhead display and its not accurate
best thing to do is pen and paper....or i have a mileage app on my phone
i found the overhead to read about 1mpg better than what i was actually getting
but never the less.......i went from 15-16 mpg to 17-20 now
and thats pen and paper calculations....computer says i average about 19...i would say about 18 is more real

A reset is easy - disconnect both battery leads, and touch the terminals together for min. 30 seconds to drain the KAM caps. Reconnect.
It's not strictly necessary, but it's a good idea (and standard practise whenever I work on anything that could throw a code - after I fix whatever it was, I use my interrogator to clear the codes, then use a reset procedure to clear the map adaptations.)
