Default Compression test

Where should I kill power to the coil in order to do a compression test? Pull off the wire to the distributer from the coil? Or the little snap connector going to the coil? 1997 4.0. Thanks. ---Rich

Just pull the wire from the coil,I read your other post also and if your looking for the knock keep one thing in mind, you can have good compression and still have a bad bearing, you would need to actually inspect the bearings to determine that. I would inspect the flexplate first for cracks.

That's dangerous. I would pull both. No power at the coil.

Why is that dangerous? I always just pull the coil wire, never had a problem.

FYI - For best results, you should pull all the spark plugs before doing the test.

Because with the connector on you are producing high voltage in the coil, and we know all how easy it is to lose a screwdriver somewhere and throw a hand in there.... BBZZZZZ!!
