combine front springs for lift?
Has anyone here ever tried taking an extra set of stock springs and cutting them to a certain length and putting them together and welding for a lift for the front? I know of a guy that has done this on a wrangler and says it has a nice ride. He has also done this on a cherokee he just and got about 3 inches!!
Now I don't know about going much higher than that, but sounds like a good idea and I am thinking of trying it! That means I can go 3 inches for around $50!! Now hardcore wheeling offroad might not hold up, but for the daily driver and occasional offroad might be good!! Let me know what you guys think!!?

welding spring meter is a bad idea, just like torching them to make a car lower, it makes the metal weak and makes the ride horrable, so i would not suggest it for ANY truck, car, wut ever

Sounds like more trouble than its worth and I wouldnt trust is on or off road...
On road you probably have more of a chance of hurting/killing someone else...

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! Ask this Cat who welds springs togther what his auto insurance people think of that. Safety first, Brother. As Jeepers and 4wheelers we build our trucks to be bigger, stronger, more capable, more fun and MUCH safer than factory rigs. That's what it is all about. Cutting corners goes against what we do. You sound like a very smart dude and you knew it was not safe or you wouldn't be asking us. Good on you for polling the XJ brotherhood before making a bad mistake. I say again this site rocks!!! The is somebody on here that knows something about everything XJ.

i weld barges, cranes and all styles of lift equipment. a basterd lift is ok, but if ur really thinkin bout it think of the 2 year old in the car in front of u when the spring breaks! think ur really gonna stop in time. somebody should slap whoever thought it was a good idea, stay away and dont let it cross ur mind ever again......
