Default Comanche front axle

So I am thinking about buying an 86 Comanche that was in an accident. its front axle is broke. My questions is; What kind of axles are in the Comanches? and could i pull one from a Cherokee and bolt it on?

Commanches have the Dana 30 in the front.

Any cherokee axle will work, as well as 93-98 grand cherokee. Just make sure you get the correct gear ratio. I suggest you get one that doesn't have the Vacuum disconnect.

What years don't have the vacuum disconnect?

How hard is it to swap the front axle out?

Small issue here.....

00-01 XJ and all ZJ axles are low pinion.. Not a huge concern unless the OP wants to go big on the tires...

To the op.. any year of Cherokee originally equipped with one of the full-time T-cases will have a non-disco axle. Or the vacuum disco finally was done away with in 1992.

its not TOO difficult, its just a bunch of bolts. The only problem you will have is getting the control arm bolts to line up. I had to use a ratch strap to pull and manuever the axle a little bit to get the bolts to line up when I did my lift,...
