This is what I did. Go on ebay and look up intake kits that are cherokee specific(use the ebay product filter to find). I paid less than $35 for the cone filter(not k&n), mandrel bent alum. intake tube, and 90 deg. bend. I used an old gas tank heat sheild for a cold air isolator. I then went as far as to buy a dryer vent from home depot, cut it to size, cut a hole in the hood and bolt it down w/ 6 ss allen screws. It does work and is awesome! I bought a sewer cap w/ a wing nut to cap it for rainy days. Now I have ram air for under $50.Hope this helps!

I was thinking about doing something similar to this; do you ever have any problems with water? I'd be a little nervous in the case of a downpour, or winter weather. But then again, I'm not overly familiar with what it would take to hydrolock, or even how that happens, other than water in the intake.

I have a 4" expanding sewer plug to plug the chute and make it water tight. I didn't make my engine compartment water tight. I will be adding some hood vents soon to aid w/ cooling.
