coil packs
i cant seem to find when coil packs should be replaced? what are some factors that will happen with an old coil? Just some general information and troubleshooting. Thanks

My 2000 is misfiring on cylinders 1, 2, and 3, but not yet throwing a code. It runs a little rough, but not bad and is almost undetectable. It also had a skip at 1500 RPMs in OD going up hills that was mostly fixed with new plugs.
I have the coil pack and will be installing it soon. Plus I'm going to run Seafoam thru it.
Only the 2000 and 2001 XJs have coil packs.

no idea but my buddy lost cylinders when his coil packs went out (ford expedition). his were something like 80 bucks each and he has maybe 100k miles on his truck

That's probably a safe bet. You should feel it. I actually thought it was my tranny until the dealership said they watched a misfire on the 3 cylinders (but no codes). The coil pack is about $125 at Advance Auto and looks like this. Might as well do plugs at the same time.
