I am working on my 1994 Cherokee SE 4.0,Automatic
Is there a Code/Fault reader that I can use on this year vehicle? If so, recommendations ?

There is an OBD port under the hood next to the PCM, but you dont need it. Just turn the key on, off, on, off, on within 5 seconds and count the flashes. You dont need to start the engine. Just turn the key.

 

I've had good luck with a cheap bluetooth OBD reader I bought on Amazon and the Torque app for Android. I am using the BAFX brand OBD reader that is currently listed $21.99. They are all made in China and super cheap, so I don't expect it to last for more than a few months. I have been able to read CEL codes and even monitor the RPM, temp, and speed when my gauge cluster stopped working for a while. I have not been able to successfully clear codes with the reader. Most big chain auto part stores around me will read fault codes for free and give you a printout.

D-Hawk, the problem is that his vehicle does not have OBD-II. It's only OBD-I, which isn't read by most of the El Cheapo readers out there.

 

By the way, I should mention that I am very happy with my OBDLink. The software is light years better than Torque, and a PC version comes with the package, which has even more capabilities.

I tried the BASF/Torque route, and I was able to clear codes some times, but not others, and I could never get it to log results. I couldn't even get a clear answer to whether or not that's a Pro feature.
