So i recently tried the self diagnostic system and got code 37, looking up in my manual is say its a faulty torque converter clutch?? My jeep has been driving fine what is this???
Not sure if the 91 is this way but a torque convertor clutch has a solenoid inside that locks the converter at cruising speeds. If that clutch/solenoid goes out it will not lock up above 45 mph or so. Just means worse mpg on the highway. The convertor will work fine for in town driving. If you ever drop the tranny put in a new clutch/solenoid, or a new convertor for that matter.
Thats exactly what it is....Forsaken.......I don't think you have to drop the tranny though. I think its in the valve body....not sure..but will find out tomorrow. Tranny guys right behind my shop....and it wont keep you from driving. Just a few MPG....
Good to know its in the valve body, I wasn't sure on jeeps. Most of my prior mechanical experience has been on chevys.
You know If you lifted the vehicle or did any recent work you may have accidentally unplugged the converter lockup wire. Make sure that there are not any unplugged connectors on the tranny before you start taking things apart.
