Do what cruiser said...check inside by the pedal, look for fluid leaking, do the same around the master cylinder, and around the bell housing. You may not be able to see anything if your leak is internal, but the two main culprits will be your master cylinder and TO bearing...did you have any warning signs at all? Soft pedal, hard to shift, slipping, jerking or burning smell?
Yeah I had some trouble shifting a bit yesterday and some smell when I was wheeling about 2 weeks ago. But not serious. Yesterday night is when everything just leaked out and my pedal just hit the floor and had no pressure. I'll check it today and I appreciate the advice! Hopefully it's an easy fix
So I changed my clutch master cylinder and bled the clutch to get rid of the air in the line. I had a buddy press the clutch 15 times then hold it down while I opened the valve in the slave cylinder to bleed the air out then closed it before he let go of the clutch. I released this 4 times and the clutch never got stiff like it should be. It was still very loose. What could the problem be. I didn't see any leak in the line that runs from the master to the slave.

So does that mean I have to drop my transmission? Is it true that the trow out bearing is only available through dealership? I called oreillys auto parts and that's what they told me.

What's your year? I was just on their site and saw one on there....look for pilot bearing and release bearing....word of advice: IF you crack things open to get to the bearing, replace your clutch pack at the same time, if it hasn't been done for a while. Would really suck to get in there, fix your problem, and have another one pop up because you didn't replace something...

Get online and find a factory service manual, (not haynes or chilton, the one they used at the jeep factory) for your year specific XJ. (don't get the ones that cover multiple years) Can be had for around $10-20 in PDF format, and downloadable immediately. Everything you could ever want to know and then some is in there. Best tool you'll ever buy for your ride. It's the first thing I buy whenever I get a new to me vehicle.

I believe that's where I got mine several years ago. Good deal at $8
