Should be a straight in kinda deal.
You may be lined up already and have not gotten the slave and master pumped up enough to work properly.

Would it be easier to pull the Tranny? Someone told me there should be a clip on the end of the slave and it might have fallen off in the tranny

You have to depress the clutch pedal to the floor in order to get it to pump up. This could take 5 pumps or it could have you switching legs in order for it to happen.
