I am wondering how much time and money it would take to replace my clutch and flywheel on my 1984 XJ Pioneer? I found a clutch kit for like $253 and a flywheel for about $60...I dont have the knowhow or the tools to do it and my local shop quoted me at $800 bucks..rip off or not? Also, what do you think would be a fair price to me and the purchaser to sell my Jeep if I dont get it fixed? Any responses would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!

Well he said 480 in labor if I supply the parts but they add up to 313 plus shipping...he said 800 and he will buy the parts...any more comments? What do you think about the selling price if I dont fix it?

 

what else is wrong, with it hows the motor, what new parts it got, is it the 4cly or 6cyl

well its a 4 cyl 2.5 L ...everything else is working well, i havent had any major problems until this. its got just under 250k which isnt bad for a 26 year old rig. i was hoping to get 1,000 or so with out the fix, but i dont think i can get 1800 if i fix it either. Kind of a tough predicament, if you know how to do the work on it yourself you could fix it for under 300 and have a great rig for about 1300 plus a few hours of work.

 

i live alitte far and really aint looking for one id out the cluthch in for 300
