I think you have to get nutty creative to change the bearing, and it's stupid expensive at the Dealer. Ebay or JY....

This is for a late build '98 XJ.....I presume the part # would be the same for a '99.

So correct me if I am wrong the actual bearing is seated into the whole bracketry system or could you remove that pulley from the bracket itself?

Some guy found a way..takes machining. Not having "been there" I can't say. No not easy, or, "normal" . JY or Ebay, unless you want to show us the process to fit a new bearing. It can be found, of course can be done. Spendy dealer part I guess.

We were really in a pinch, time wise.....so paid 3+ bills at the stealership. The noise turned out to be the distributor....oh well, it turned out to be an expensive weekend. I believe there are 2 bearings pressed on the shaft and then the bearings are pressed into the bracket....or maybe the other way around. Here's a pic from the backside.

The hub is pressed onto the shaft. U remove the 4 studs from the old unit, screw 'em into the new unit, slip the pulley on, then the fan clutch and run the 4 nuts down.

My last post here. Edit...so I'm curious. I might end up in this bind. Holey sh** really? Two bearings? Dang I'm over 6' and 250 lbs. I wonder if Bruce sees me in his junkyard if he would know it waz me?

My Renix might not be "tracking" right there.
