One problem I noticed after going through some watery holes is that now I have to turn jeep off and be at a complete stop then shift to first and turn it on but the clutch is already partially engaged with pedal on the floor so it starts to creep a little without any gas. I cannot shift past first any ideas?? Before this happened though my clutch already would engage early usually it was almost right when I let off of the clutch it would engage.

Sometimes I can drive it around but the gears are really tough to put in but most of the time it is like the clutch is not disengaged enough for me to shift into other gears so once I leave first I have to come to stop and turn it off then shift to first and turn it on.

Edit: So I went to try and drive it and I when I press the clutch all the way to the floor with like all my weight it disengages but it is a pain in the **** so how can I adjust clutch I tried looking for it awhile back and didn't find it so I just bled it should I try this again.

 

how many miles are on you clutch? sounds similar to what was happening when my throwout bearing broke into pieces on my truck.

 

If it it is still hard to push, then it is probably the pressure plate. Mine swallowed one of the springs from the clutch disk and choked on it. It became lodged where it would not disengage. I had to drive home on clutchless shifts and starter launches in first. You probably need a pressure plate. Change the disk, throw-out bearing, slave cylinder, pilot bushing, and check/machine the flywheel while you are in there.

One other point: My 1990 had two reverse torx head bolts connecting the motor to the trans at the top. Got to your local auto parts and get the tool if this is the case. I tried every other option and nothing would turn them. I replaced them later with hex head bolts of the same length.

do you have the external slave cyl try bleeding it again if this help either clutch mastyer or slave igs going bad and sucking air in

 

have some one push the clutch pedal in andf see if its traveling all the way in and out from underneath

 

check your fluid on the clutch master. it sounds like it's almost empty.

Your clutch master or slave cylinder is most likely leaking.

 

That's the first thing I checked and it is full. It will disengage when it is ON the floor I have to put a lot of pressure on it for it to disengage. About 2 hours before this happened when I went to push the clutch in sometimes it would not go in like it was frozen but when I picked my foot up and pressed it again it would go in.

The clutch is about 5 months old the PO put a new one in.

 

Time to change that clutch. Don't be cheap about it. Get the flywheel turned and a new pressure plate too or it will chatter.

 

So should I go ahead and just order a Clutch Kit my tranny is bad to so I cannot go into 3rd from 4th which makes it hard to downshift.

 

Sounds like your clutch is not disengaging I would start by changing the clutch slave and master.
If you have a internal slave then you will have to pull the tranny and then you might as well go "soup to nuts" and change the clutch as well.
I drive a stick to and I know what it's like having to start it in gear and power shift 20 miles home not very much fun at all.

 

Since you have changed your master cyl. I will assume you got the right one. I have had trouble with NAPA masters doing this same thing. But it is right, it is probably not your tranny that is bad. The syncro is not allowing you to shift in because the shafts are not going the same speed due to the clutch not fully disengaging. So, yes get the kit. And as I said, get that flywheel turned too.

 

your throw out bearing failed. do the whole job while you're at it [it's never as much fun the second time]there'd never enough time to do it right but always enough to do it twice!
